Under the sanctions, in particular, were the head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, the editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya and Russia Today news agency Margarita Simonyan.

Inclusion in the EU sanctions list means a ban on entry into the territory of the European Union and the freezing of assets in the territory of the Union for individuals, as well as freezing the assets of organizations.

Citizens and organizations in the EU are prohibited from transferring funds to the persons on the list.

Earlier, the European Union officially adopted sanctions for Russia's recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

In particular, 351 State Duma deputies fell under the sanctions.
