cry!

Southerners have been cold since the Spring Festival and now the big data shows how cold it is

  China Weather Network News Cold!

too cold!

Crying coldly... This is a cry from the heart of a southerner.

Since the Spring Festival this year, the southern wet and cold "magic attack" has been carried out round by round. This week, a "general attack" has also been launched. The rain and snow in Guangdong, Guangxi and other places have dropped the temperature record, and it is so cold that it feels like being in a refrigerator all day.

How cold is this February in the south? What is the reason for this year's extreme coldness? Who is the coldest big city?

China Weather Network revealed the answer by comparing the big data of the same period in history.

Wet and cold wheel battle: This February southerners freeze into "ice piers" at home

This Spring Festival, if you receive a New Year's greeting message from a friend in the south early in the morning, you must believe that this is true love. After all, it takes a lot of courage to stretch out your hand from the warm quilt.

From New Year's Eve to the third day of the new year, the southern region is greeted by a wide range of rain and snow. The rain and snow are accompanied by single-digit temperatures, which are extremely wet and cold.

February 4 ushered in the Spring Festival, but the wet and cold weather did not stop.

From February 6th to 7th, snowfall occurred in parts of Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi, with a snow accumulation of about 10 centimeters, and a heavy snowfall in Nanjing. People in Jiangnan continued to shout cold while playing in the snow happily.

The friends in South China are even worse. There is no snow but cold.

According to Guangdong weather statistics, the average temperature in Guangdong province during the entire Spring Festival (January 31 to February 6) was only 9.9 ℃, which was the coldest Spring Festival holiday in the past ten years.

The Spring Festival holiday is over, but the Southern Sunshine continues to take a vacation. The temperature is not the coldest, only colder.

Since February 15, the south has once again ushered in a large-scale rain and snow weather, and the cold air has supplemented the south, and the temperature has been continuously suppressed.

The Central Meteorological Observatory issued a low temperature warning for 8 consecutive days from February 17 to 24, which became the longest continuous issuance since the low temperature warning.

From the 20th to the 21st, the southern part of China ushered in the lowest temperature in this process, and Guangdong, Fujian, and Guangxi saw snow in many places.

The people of Guangdong who have been clamoring for "cold air, come here" all year round felt the cold "crit" this time. The average temperature in Guangzhou on the 21st was 5.8 ℃, which was the coldest day in late February since 1996.

The temperature is low, the rain and snow are constant, and the inside and outside of the house are as cold. In short, southerners are wrapped in quilts to watch the Winter Olympics this February, and they freeze into "ice piers" at home.

Data review: The temperature in the south has been the coldest in nearly 13 years since February

The monitoring of the Central Meteorological Observatory shows that from February 1 to 22, the temperature in most of Jiangnan, South China, and most of the southwest was 2°C to 4°C lower than the same period of the previous year. Lower 4°C to 6°C, cool until purple.

During this period, the average temperature in the southern region was about 6.4°C, the lowest since 2009.

China Weather Network has calculated the temperature data since February and found that Nanning, Guiyang, Changsha, Guangzhou, and Nanchang are the five cities with the lowest temperature among the southern provincial capital cities. Compared with all of them, it is more than 3 °C lower, and Nanning is 6.9 °C lower.

The highest temperature in Nanning from February 1st to 21st was lower than the same period of normal years. The average maximum temperature this year was 11.3°C, which was the lowest in the same period since 1968.

Nanning is not only the big city with the lowest temperature in the south, but also the big city with the most rainy days. It rained on 19 of the 21 days, almost every day. It is a prominent representative of the wet and cold south.

Why is the South so cold?

It's the driving force behind the scenes

Why is there such a long period of low temperature rain and snow in the south in February this year?

Hu Xiao, chief meteorological analyst at China Weather Network, said that the low temperature, rain and snow in February are typical performances under the influence of La Niña.

Under the influence of the La Niña event, the frequent intensity of cold air activities is relatively strong. Since February this year, the Siberian high pressure has been relatively strong, and the atmospheric circulation situation is higher in the north and lower in the south, which is conducive to the southward movement of cold air.

In addition, the south branch trough on the south side of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is very active, bringing a strong southwest airflow, and the easterly wind is strong along the southeast coast, and abundant water vapor is transported to the south, resulting in repeated cooling and snowfall weather.

"Bingdundun" finally waited for "Xue Rongrong", the temperature in the south has bottomed out today

"There is no winter insurmountable, and there is no spring that will not come." The little friends in the south finally look forward to the end of the rain and the snow and the return of the sun.

From today (February 24), the southern region has experienced a major recovery. By the 28th, the cumulative temperature rise in many places south of the Yangtze River will exceed 10 °C, and the temperature in the south of the Yangtze River and the eastern part of the southwest will exceed 15 °C.

The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River gradually got rid of the wet and cold from the 25th, the highest temperature rose to above 10 ℃, and rose to about 15 ℃ on the 26th.

The temperature from the eastern part of the southwest region to the southern part of China will also gradually change from low to high from the 26th. Around the 28th, the south will reach the warmest state this year, and the highest temperature line of 20°C will go north to the Jiangnan area.

Among the big cities, the highest temperature in Nanchang will reach 20 ℃ on the 28th, the first time this year to reach 20 ℃, and Hangzhou will also have 19 ℃ on the 28th.

In Nanning and Guangzhou in southern China, the temperature rose to around 22°C on the 28th, from clammy and cold to warm and comfortable, and spring is approaching step by step.
