5 bodies were found in a stricken Italian ferry... and the search continues for 6 others

The Greek coast guard announced that five bodies had been found on the Italian ferry that caught fire last week, noting that the search is continuing for six missing persons.

A fire broke out on the Euro Ferry Olympia at dawn Friday near the Greek island of Corfu after leaving the Greek port of Igoumenitsa towards the Italian city of Brindisi.

Most of the passengers were evacuated within an hour, but a number of truck drivers were still missing.

The five bodies were found in the ship's holds, and pictures published by the public broadcaster ERT showed the charred bodies of trucks and cars.

Three truck drivers, a Belarusian, a Bulgarian and a Romanian, are still in Corfu hospital suffering from breathing difficulties after being rescued from the stricken ferry.

The 281 survivors are 230 passengers and 51 crew members.

There were two unregistered Afghans on the passenger list, raising fears that there may be more unregistered passengers on the ferry.
