“The announcement by the Canadian side that it is blacklisting all Russian legislators who voted for the recognition of the independence of the LPR and DPR, that is, the entire composition of the Federation Council and the State Duma, is simply ridiculous, this is some kind of novella in the context of the international policy implemented by the Canadian liberal democracy,” RIA Novosti quotes Stepanov.

According to him, the rest of the restrictions from the Canadian government were predictable.

“All other sanctions were predictable, they will not affect the situation “on the ground” and Russia’s determination to ensure peace in the Donbass,” Stepanov said.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the imposition of sanctions against Russia in connection with the recognition of the DNR and LNR.

In particular, restrictions are being imposed on deputies of the Russian parliament and two Russian banks.
