The Chinese government has always attached great importance to plastic pollution control. As early as 2007, it introduced policies and measures to restrict the production and sale of plastic shopping bags. It is one of the earliest countries in the world to carry out plastic pollution control.
The prevention and control of plastic pollution involves multiple links and multiple departments. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, based on its own responsibilities, actively strengthens the control of plastic pollution.
The first is to cooperate with the National People's Congress to complete the revision of the "Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste", make provisions on the pollution prevention and control of agricultural films, packaging, and disposable plastic products, clarify the legal responsibility for relevant illegal acts, and greatly enhance the legal binding and deterrence.
