A study on the relationship between "muscle and cardiovascular disease" was recently published in a sub-issue of the top medical journal "The Lancet", which is of concern.

A long-term follow-up study by Chinese scholars on 15,000 middle-aged and elderly people showed that compared with normal people, the incidence of cardiovascular disease in middle-aged and elderly people with significant muscle loss (sarcopenia) increased by 72%, and the risk of cardiovascular events increased by 33%.

The reasons for the obvious reduction of muscles in middle-aged and elderly people are that one is malnutrition, and the other is insufficient exercise, mainly because there is less exercise to exercise muscles.

The middle-aged and elderly people should be given enough awareness and attention.

The author has the following two suggestions for reference:

First, middle-aged and elderly people can’t just be vegetarians, can’t just emphasize “lightness”, and can’t “keep their mouths out”. You can’t eat this, and you can’t eat that. Where does nutrition come from?

It should be to ensure both "vegetarian food" and "meat food".

  Pay attention to diet nutrition:

  1. It is necessary to ensure adequate intake of high-quality protein, such as eggs, skinless chicken, duck, goose, lean meat, fish and shrimp, dairy products, and soy products.

  2. It is suitable to supplement vitamin B1, B2, B6.

  3. The elderly cannot eat "too bland", 6 grams of salt is required.

Second, in the exercise of middle-aged and elderly people, in addition to walking, we should focus on strengthening muscle exercises, such as practicing dumbbells, pull-ups, and leg kicks.

Here, I would like to remind middle-aged and elderly friends not to sit still for a long time, or to sit for a long time and move less.
