Fredrik Bo Andersson teaches criminology at Mid Sweden University and has followed the case where a man from Ånge municipality was singled out as a pedophile by anglers.

He knows the man from before when they worked at the same workplace many years ago and now reason about what happens when you push the legal system and take matters into your own hands.

- The risk is that a parallel legal system is created where power is shifted from prosecutors and authorities and where the value of evidence disappears.

In a parallel legal system, there is not the same evaluation of evidence, here people are pointed out as guilty when the opposite is not proven.

Wants to harm the individual

But getting a legal trial against the suspected pedophiles is not the site's goal, says Fredrik Bo Andersson.

- It is about creating the greatest possible effect, the greatest possible spread and the greatest harm to the individual.

They know that many times this does not lead to legal repercussions.

Social judgment

And the damage to the individual can be great.

- Even if the person in this case does not receive a legal sentence, he receives a community sentence.

For example, it can be difficult for the person to return to their home area, to their workplace or to look for new jobs, says Fredrik Bo Andersson.
