“For seven years, the Americans have done nothing to convince the Ukrainian leadership of the need to implement the Minsk agreements,” Antonov said, his words are quoted on the embassy’s Facebook page.

In his opinion, Washington only encouraged the Kiev regime to remain inactive.

“Having climbed onto the shoulders of the United States, Kiev believed in the possibility of resolving the intra-Ukrainian conflict by force,” Antonov said.

It was enough for the US authorities to force Kiev to sit down at the negotiating table with representatives of the DPR and LPR, he concluded.

A similar opinion was expressed by Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that the Minsk agreements no longer exist, since Russia recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics.

He also noted that the Minsk agreements were killed long before the recognition of the independence of the LNR and the DNR.
