- We do not think we have seen any increase in injuries if you look at what it has looked like for several years, but it is clear that it is not a harmless sport, says Bo Funcke who runs Romme Alpin in Borlänge.

An image that is consistent with statistics from, among others, SLAO, the Swedish ski resorts' organization.

In the last six years, approximately 11,000 people have been injured on the ski slopes in Sweden, slightly fewer last year during the pandemic.

Despite the fact that the number of visitors to the slopes has increased in recent years, the number of people in care has not increased.

The responsibility of the facilities

The ski resorts' responsibility is to ensure that there is good safety at the ski resort itself, in lifts and on the ski slopes.

The actual ride then takes place under your own responsibility, says Bo Funcke.

- You can compare it with, for example, mountain biking in the forest.

"Fewer serious injuries"

Lasse Casserstedt has worked at Romme Alpine as a nurse for 30 years.

He feels that there have been fewer serious injuries.

- This is because the equipment and protections have improved and the slopes are more safety-adapted, he says.
