With the main opposition party plunged into its most serious internal crisis due to the confrontation between

Pablo Casado

and

Isabel Díaz Ayuso

, Valencian businessmen have not hesitated to convey to King Felipe VI their concern about the future of Spanish politics.

"The political instability in Spain is worrying," said its president,

Vicente Boluda

, at the general assembly of the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE) .

In the first row was not only the monarch, but also one of the main references in the Spanish business world: the owner of Mercadona,

Juan Roig

, also a prominent member of AVE.

Concern

about the political context

is one of the main conclusions drawn from the survey carried out by AVE among its members on the occasion of the holding of the assembly and coinciding with its 40th anniversary.

No express mention of any party or government has been made, but the message has not gone unnoticed at this time of political upheaval.

The survey has also served to verify that there is fear of a shortage of raw materials, the rise in the cost of energy or inflation.

Not even the businessmen themselves are very confident that

European funds are

going to be the definitive solution to the crisis caused by the pandemic.

As revealed by Boluda, 70% of AVE's partners do not participate in any project financed with Next Generation funds "due to inaccessibility due to lack of information and clarity".

Even so, in his speech before the businessmen, King Felipe VI has guaranteed them the

"support of the Crown" for "dialogue and public-private collaboration"

.

"You have been an example for everyone", he has said about the behavior of companies during the pandemic.

In the words of Juan Roig,

"a country depends on the number of honest businessmen it has"

.

In this sense, he has encouraged his colleagues to "come out of the closet and lose their shame", to claim themselves as businessmen.

"We are the ones who move the country together with the workers", he has sentenced.

What's more, according to Boluda, "if we want Spain to recover its prestige, we need a strong civil society."

"Businessmen will be at the foot of the canyon" in the reconstruction, she has insisted.
