“In connection with the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics by the Russian Federation, the British Foreign Office declared a strong protest, and the British government announced the introduction of sanctions that are illegitimate from the point of view of international law,” the embassy representative said.

Earlier, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss signed the first package of sanctions against Russia after Moscow's decision to recognize the independence of the LPR and DPR.

Also, the British Foreign Office said that they could impose sanctions against the Russian financial sector.
