• Events The Civil Guard analyzes the gutter in which Esther López appeared to find out if she was run over

  • Investigation The first analysis of the autopsy of Esther López appreciates signs of internal violence

Esther López

had a fractured hip and a cervical sprain.

Two weeks after the first approximations to the autopsy, now a more detailed report brings the investigators closer to the possible cause of death.

At the moment, there are no certainties, but the agents are inclined that the 35-year-old woman could die after being run over, since the injuries support this thesis.

However, they are awaiting the results of the toxicological tests carried out on Esther.

The elite team of the Civil Guard in the investigation of traffic accidents

(ERAT)

continues to work to determine if a car could end the life of the woman the same morning of her disappearance.

Esther López appeared 23 in a ditch next to a road at the entrance to Traspinedo.

At the moment, no tire marks have been found on the asphalt and that is why the experts carry out a speed and projection study to get closer to the car model that could have been involved in the possible accident, as sources close to the investigation specify.

The first forensic report found signs of internal violence in Esther's body consistent with trauma, which were not specified at the time.

Esther López had been missing since the early hours of January 13, but her father did not report her disappearance until five days later because it was not the first time that the woman had not returned home.

Apparently, it had happened on other occasions and always ended up returning after a few days.

Undoubtedly, the delay in the complaint was one of the most important obstacles that the investigation faced.

On the night of January 12, Esther and two friends - 'El Carolo' and Óscar - had stayed at a bar in Traspinedo to watch a soccer game.

When the meeting ended, they continued drinking.

Around two in the morning, the three got into Óscar's car towards the outskirts of Traspinedo, where the La Maña bar is located.

Carlos got out of the vehicle and went to his house.

Security cameras caught him.

Esther and Óscar continued in the car.

From there everything is unknown.

These two men have testified several times before the investigators and Óscar has offered several versions during this time.

He first told the agents that Esther got out of her car angry because he didn't want to continue the night and she did.

Later, he assured that she got out of the vehicle because she had arranged to meet another person who was going to pick her up in the deserted wasteland next to the La Maña restaurant and that he started and left without waiting for her to arrive.

According to his version, he left her alone in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

Ten days later, the Civil Guard arrested El Manitas, a man with a record, as the main suspect whose chalet is in the same area where Esther lost track.

After six days under arrest, the judge released him with charges due to the weakness of the evidence against him.

The agents of the Civil Guard were focused on the urbanization in which Esther lost track - where the until now only accused by Judge Ramón C. alias 'El Manitas' has his chalet - and also on the riverbed Douro.

This area is located on the opposite side of where her body appeared.
