For the second day in a row, thousands of Sudanese demonstrated this Monday, February 21, 2022 against General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan's coup.

These rallies coincide with the visit of the UN human rights envoy, the Senegalese Adama Dieng, who is supposed to meet various Sudanese officials as well as civil society actors to try to shed light on the repression of the demonstrations. and the waves of uninterrupted arrests of activists or politicians.

Hiba is accompanied by her 43-year-old mother who unrolls a bandage to apply it to the wounds of another injured person.

The mother and daughter are both members of the resistance committee in their neighborhood, Jabra in the southwest of Khartoum.

We both go down to each demonstration.

We are pacifists, we only want to have our rights respected.

So far this regime is killing us and oppressing us.

That's why we're here, we're asking for a civil and democratic regime.

Brutal repression

Once again, the repression is brutal.

In addition to firing live ammunition, armored vehicles or police 4x4s do not hesitate to rush into the crowd and chase demonstrators.

The balance sheet is at least 90 injured, according to doctors.
