A section of 75 meters of Ölandskajen next to Linnaeus University is now cordoned off.

Kalmar municipality has been forced to close the section after damage was discovered in several of the load-bearing parts of the bridge deck.

- It is above all the piles that are heavily rotted, says John Johansson, project manager for bridges and quays.

The dives at the quay will now be analyzed by the service administration.

Only after the dive report is completed can the repair work begin in the guest harbor.

The goal is for the bridge deck to be able to open by the summer.

- It is very difficult to assess exactly when we can open this part of the port again.

We do not yet know what measures need to be taken.

We need to get a full dive report ready first.

It is very difficult to assess which loads the bridge deck can handle.

That is why we choose to block off, says John Johnsson.
