Brazil's Federal Police will increase its hardware investment to improve its ability to crack down on criminal activities in the country's Amazon region in an attempt to curb growing environmental damage.

  According to Brazil's "Economic Value" report on the 21st, the Brazilian Federal Police is developing plans, including the establishment of an air base in the Amazon region, and the procurement of four large helicopters, aiming to strengthen air patrol and logistics support capabilities.

  Crimes against the environment in the Amazon have been on the rise in recent years.

There are reports that police will carry out a total of 695 operations related to combating environmental crime in 2021, an increase of 55% compared to 2020.

The number of people arrested in connection with the case has increased from 565 in 2020 to 646 in 2021.
