With a program full of the most enjoyable visitors of Expo 2020 Dubai, in the morning and evening, Uruguay celebrated its National Day in Al Wasl Square, yesterday, presenting various events, including a show of the most famous Tango dance in the world, as well as a journey between the arts of that Latin country.

The celebrations began in the presence of the President of Uruguay, Dr. Luis Lacalle Pou, and First Lady Lorena Ponce de Leon, with the official flag-raising ceremonies, and the playing of the national anthems of the UAE and Uruguay in Al Wasl Square.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, Reem Al Hashemi, welcomed the President of Uruguay, the First Lady and the accompanying delegation.

Luis Lacalle Poe called on Emirati investors to take advantage of the opportunities and potentials in his country, adding, “We need partners, and we want investors who contribute to the growth of the market in our country.

As for the distance between the Emirates and Uruguay;

It is the same as that between the Emirates and Australia.”

The Uruguayan president indicated that his country is concerned with several issues, foremost of which is freedom, in addition to its commitment to human and animal health, environmental preservation, food security, and relations with the rest of the world.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said: "Uruguay has become an international reference in the fields of clean energy, smart agriculture, technological innovations, and the development of digital government," noting that it is working through its participation in "Expo 2020 Dubai" to promote its advanced position among Latin American countries and the world. , in terms of attention to sustainability and quality of life, which puts them at the forefront of its priorities.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak added: "Our bilateral relations with Uruguay focus on a variety of areas, including investments, science and technology and renewable energy, and we are keen to use our joint presence in (Expo Dubai) to expand our collaborative efforts."

The Uruguayan National Day party included cultural performances by the National Ballet, the National Choir and Sodre’s chamber music troupe “The Percussion, Acting and Entertainment Ensemble”. Between expressive choreography, music and singing.

On the stage, 10 artists performed a dance link to the sound of the tenor, which included designs for classical and folk dance performances, including contemporary dance, and of course the tango.

As part of Uruguay's National Day celebrations, Expo visitors enjoyed the unique "Sweet Gable" cultural show, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of the composition of "La Comparceta".

Visitors were also on a date with an artistic performance of the world's most famous tango dance at the Dubai Millennium Theater at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Uruguayan president and his wife visited a number of sites at the Dubai Expo, including the Martyrs' Monument.
