Two Albanian nationals were sentenced this Thursday, February 17 to 18 months and 24 months in prison after the discovery of 15 kg of cannabis in their vehicle.

The seizure was made on February 11 on the A43, not far from the Saint-Pierre-de-Belleville area (Savoie), reports Le Dauphiné.

23 packets of cannabis herb and resin

Customs officers found the drugs when they lifted the carpet from the seats.

They then fell on two metal plates under which were stored boxes filled with 23 packets of grass and cannabis resin, details the regional daily.

The two men had to deliver the goods from Valencia (Spain) to Turin (Italy) for 1,000 euros each.

One of the two defendants was absent during the hearing in immediate appearance.

He was sentenced to the heaviest sentence and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The other received a lighter sentence for his cooperation.

Both will have to pay a customs fine of 90,000 euros.
