Their ordeal lasted six hours.
This Saturday, nine people who had boarded a roller coaster at the Plopsaland amusement park in La Panne (Belgium) got stuck 35 meters above the ground, reports
La Voix du Nord
.
For a still unknown reason, the four gondolas of the "Ride to Happiness" suddenly stopped in the middle of the race.
It was then 5:30 p.m.
The alert was quickly given and firefighters were dispatched to the scene to rescue the victims.
In vain, since their ladders do not allow them to go beyond 30 meters.

A crane to reach the nacelles
It was thanks to a crane from a Belgian company that the unlucky visitors were evacuated.
But the rescue took a long time to come into place.
Located in Bruges, the crane had to be escorted by the police before being installed.
The pods were blocked so that they did not move and the nine victims were fitted with a harness.
They were then lowered two by two into a cage.
đź”´ ALERT |
The rescue on the big eight of #Plopsaland De Panne made difficult by the gusts of wind, the container attached to the crane having started to turn.

None of those trapped were injured;
they were, however, very cold.
As a precaution, they were taken to the hospital for check-ups.
In total, the operation, which ended at 11:30 p.m., mobilized around forty people.
An expertise will be carried out in order to understand the origin of the breakdown.
