Ten motorcycle associations have joined forces to form the "Hochtaunus Action Alliance for All" to take joint action against the planned closure of the Feldberg access roads for motorcyclists.

The alliance ranges from the Biker Union to the Federal Association of Motorcyclists and the Motorsport Club Winkelmesser to the Association of Christian Motorcyclists.

They have submitted a joint statement on the draft of the regulation of the Hochtaunus district, with which the driving bans are to be imposed.

After a traffic test in 2019, the Hochtaunus district announced last November that it would block access from Oberursel-Hohemark to the summit plateau of the Großer Feldberg to motorized two-wheelers every second weekend from April to October.

One reason is particularly loud motorcycles, which is why the district also describes the temporary driving ban as “noise breaks” for residents.

Access to the summit from the Königstein side should remain guaranteed.

The action alliance considers the planned closures to be unsuitable for influencing noise and the number of accidents.

Because there is no specific risk situation, the order has no legal basis.

They ignore the fact that cars also contribute to the noise, because the Feldberg is also a popular destination for sports car clubs.

The blocking is not proportionate if it affects the vast majority of people who are traveling with legal machines because of a few tampered with motorcycles.

In addition, traffic is shifting to alternative routes and is likely to increase on weekends without a driving ban.

Which increases both traffic noise and the risk of accidents on these days.

The representatives of motorcyclists doubt that it is a traffic test, as the district is now writing.

An accompanying measurement and evaluation program is missing.

Instead of deploying large police forces to monitor the closure, the associations are in favor of an overall concept for traffic monitoring.

The police controls in the Feldberg area, which have been increased since 2018, have already had an effect.
