Borrell: EU urges Russia not to recognize independence of DPR and LPR

According to him, the EU followed the meeting of the Russian Security Council with concern.

“We call on President Putin to comply with international law and the Minsk agreements and not recognize the Lugansk and Donetsk regions,” Borrell said at a press conference following the EU Council meeting in Brussels. 

Earlier, members of the Russian Security Council called for recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR during an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council.
