The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in Doha today, Monday, the files of stability in the region and the course of the Vienna negotiations on the nuclear agreement. The two leaders also witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields.

In a joint press conference, the Emir of the State of Qatar stressed the importance of expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of enhancing the region's security and stability.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also said that he discussed with the Iranian president a number of regional and international issues, foremost of which is the region's security and stability.

"We reiterated that dialogue is the best way to resolve differences and face challenges," the prince added.

He also said, "A number of agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed between Qatar and Iran, which is an important matter whose implementation must be pursued."

Regarding the Vienna negotiations, the Emir of the State of Qatar said that he was briefed by the Iranian president on the progress of the negotiations, stressing the readiness of the State of Qatar to help reconcile the parties, with the aim of reaching an agreement that ends the dispute and ensures the stability of the region.

"We welcome the Iranian fans who will come to Qatar to attend the World Cup," Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad added.

For his part, the Iranian president stressed the importance of his visit to Qatar;

He said it is a step to activate the priority of neighboring countries in the Iranian foreign policy.

Raisi, who is on his first visit to a Gulf country, added that he hopes this visit will contribute to strengthening relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

He also said, "We agreed to seize the opportunities that our two countries have to expand the scope of our relations."

Regarding the Vienna negotiations, the Iranian president said that the United States should lift the sanctions imposed on his country, in order to reach an agreement that guarantees the interests of all parties.

The Amiri Diwan announced that the Emir of the State of Qatar and the Iranian President supervised the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries, as Raisi is accompanied on his visit to Qatar by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Oil and Cultural Heritage and the President of the Presidential Court Office.

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi arrived in Doha earlier today, Monday, at the official invitation of the Emir of Qatar.

This visit comes ahead of the gas-exporting countries summit tomorrow in Doha, which will be attended by leaders and senior officials of gas-producing countries, and the Iranian president will meet a number of them on the sidelines of the meeting.

And the Iranian Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) had quoted Raisi as saying, before leaving for Doha, that the visit aims to activate the diplomacy of the neighboring countries, especially the Arab Gulf states, and to benefit from the capabilities of these countries to strengthen political and economic relations.
