Canceled in 2021, the Salon de l'Agriculture will be held from February 26 to March 6, 2022 in Paris.

Breeders and producers are preparing for the General Agricultural Competition, which rewards the best local products.

Europe 1 extended its microphone to a cider producer in Côtes-d'Armor.

Finally, reunion time.

The Salon de l'Agriculture is back this year in Paris after a year of interruption due to the health crisis.

The great mass of breeders and producers starts on Saturday February 26 at Porte de Versailles for two weeks.

Nearly 600,000 visitors and 1,000 exhibitors are expected.

The exhibitors at the Show are preparing the unmissable General Competition which rewards the best local products each year.

From Bordeaux via Beaufort to the most beautiful Limousine, the candidates only have five days left to prepare.

It is therefore the last straight line for this cider producer from the Côtes-d'Armor interviewed by Europe 1.

Diligent preparation

Like the thousands of other exhibitors at the Salon de l'Agriculture, the Val de Rance cider producers in Plouer sur Rance in the Côtes-d'Armor are preparing conscientiously for the General Competition: "it's really an objective every year to be able to go for gold or silver. We all start tasting our products together to find the most suitable cuvée to present it in the competition" explains Phillipe Muselet, owner of this estate.

Accustomed to medals, Philippe Muselet bets this year on his cellar master, Alain Lepage, a bit passionate about his style: "we will move the glass to bring out the aromas. There, we feel a beautiful aromatic intensity with nuances of apples fresh. Then, we take the product in the mouth and we judge both the aromas and the balance. Here, what we notice is that we have a very frank attack and finally, a freshness brought by the tangy apples that will carry the aromas far in the mouth" explains Alain Lepage.

A blind tasting which seems to satisfy the team: "we have the product which was selected. It seems to have all the merits to obtain a medal" notes Phillipe Muselet.

"I'm also very confident about the medal. The product is well balanced and has a nice color," agrees one of the team's producers.

Verdict in a week for these exhibitors.

Each medal stuck on a bottle promises the team to boost its sales by 20%.
