654.6 million dirhams deals for the first day of "UMEX" 2022
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, today inaugurated the fifth edition of the UMEX and SimTEX 2022 exhibitions, which are organized by them The Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, is the event specialized in unmanned systems and simulation, training and artificial intelligence, in addition to robots and multi-use systems in the defense and civil sectors.
During the first day of the exhibition, the Ministry of Defense signed 3 deals with local and international companies with a total value of more than 654.6 million dirhams, distributed among contracts for local companies with a total value of more than 649 million dirhams, and foreign contracts with a total value of more than 5,597 million dirhams.
The deals included a deal with International Golden Group to purchase drone systems worth 10 million dirhams, and another deal with Global Aerospace Logistics to provide technical support, maintenance, repair and spare parts services, with a value of more than 639 million dirhams.
It also included a contract with Denel SOC Ltd, trading as Denel Dynamics in South Africa to provide technical support for aircraft systems with a total value of more than 5,597 million dirhams.
This year's edition - in which 134 companies from 26 countries around the world participated, including 7 countries participating for the first time - witnessed exceptional and unprecedented growth, as the space allocated to exhibiting companies increased by 25%, while new companies participating for the first time acquired 36% of the shares. Total exhibitors, while national companies represent 29% of the total exhibitors participating in the fifth edition of the two exhibitions.
The live performances that are held in the Sweihan Hills area, which are one of the main events of the two exhibitions, have multiplied, and the number of advanced systems participating in them has increased remarkably, as these shows are set to witness the unveiling of 22 new technologies and innovative systems that have not been previously disclosed.
The fifth edition of UMEX and SimTEX 2022 will witness the launch of the UMEX and SimTEX platform for emerging companies specialized in the sector, which aims to empower these companies and highlight their innovations in the field.
Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of UMEX and SimTEX 2022 and the accompanying conference, Major General Dr. Mubarak Saeed Ghafan Al-Jabri, said that this strategic event specialized in unmanned systems, training and simulation systems is the only one of its kind in the region because of its pivotal role in supporting the efforts of The UAE aims to consolidate its global leadership by employing innovations that contribute to strengthening the economy, stability and national and regional security.
