Paramedics: Sudan's dead man was a patient standing on the balcony of a hospital

Medics said that a patient standing on the balcony of a hospital was killed by a stray bullet fired by security forces in Sudan today, Sunday, during protests in Khartoum.

The Central Committee of Sudan Doctors said that the 51-year-old man was shot while trying to breathe air amid a cloud of tear gas in the city of Bahri on the opposite bank of the Nile opposite Khartoum.

The protesters managed to get within 500 meters of the heavily guarded presidential palace for the first time in more than a month.

Protests also took place in the neighboring city of Omdurman and other cities across Sudan, including Gedaref and El Obeid.
