The head of the Social Affairs, Labor, Population and Human Resources Committee of the Federal National Council, Naama Al-Mansoori, revealed that the final report on the topic “The Ministry of Community Development’s policy regarding the development of the social security system” ended with 12 parliamentary recommendations, which will be presented to the Council for discussion and adoption, the most important of which is the need to amend Legislation regulating social security in the country, according to economic and social variables, and the adoption of operational activities to study the qualifications and needs of citizens who are able to work in the social security base, to find job opportunities compatible with their capabilities and skills, and to give them priority in employment in coordination with the competent authorities.

The Council will hold its session tomorrow, headed by Saqr Ghobash, to discuss the topic of "The Ministry of Community Development's policy regarding the development of the social security system", in the presence of the Minister of Community Development, Hessa bint Issa Buhumaid, and a number of officials and leaders of the ministry and government representatives.

Naama Al-Mansoori told "Emirates Today" that the council will discuss the issue of the ministry's policy regarding the development of the social security system within three main axes, including "developing legislation related to the social security system in accordance with economic and social changes", "the ministry's strategy on social security", and " International practices applied in developed countries regarding social security.

Al-Mansoori stressed that social security is one of the vocabulary of solidarity and social cohesion that puts society on the highest levels of renaissance and sustainable development to link the sustainability of social care to the sustainability of social development, where the concept of social security falls under the concept of human empowerment.

She explained that the UAE seeks to advance social development, through the implementation of government plans and strategies that aim to enable all segments of society to integrate into a unified social fabric, to enhance the stability of the Emirati family and strengthen ties between members of society to provide the best services to members of society, according to the highest international standards. Which is based on quality, efficiency and transparency in social care services, in order to achieve the well-being of society.

Al-Mansoori stated that the report prepared and approved by the Social Affairs, Labor, Population and Human Resources Committee, and submitted to the Council, included a great effort and extensive discussions with various concerned parties, as the Committee was briefed on the latest global practices in the matter of social security, in addition to many reports of international indicators specialized in This matter, during the discussion of the topic over the course of eight meetings with government representatives, as well as the implementation of a virtual panel discussion.

Al-Mansoori revealed that the final report on the topic of “developing the social security system” included 12 recommendations that will be presented to the council for discussion and adoption, the most important of which is the need to amend the legislation regulating social security in accordance with economic and social variables, in addition to establishing a social security committee that includes representatives from the Ministry of Community Development and the membership of the concerned government agencies. Such as "housing" and "health", as well as local bodies with competence to integrate efforts, through a single system that links health services, health insurance, material and food aid, and housing for easy access to individuals and families in need, thus contributing to achieving the state's vision in achieving sustainable development goals. and quality of life strategy.

She stated that the recommendations also included the necessity of adopting operational activities to study the qualifications and needs of those who are able to work in the social security base, to find job opportunities compatible with their capabilities and skills, and to give them priority in employment in coordination with the competent authorities, in addition to disbursing excellence rewards to those enrolled from the families of those entitled to social security. The program of vocational training and qualification and the various educational stages, especially within the framework of the state’s policies regarding the care of the gifted and talented, and the need to complete the electronic linkage project with the concerned authorities, in order to accomplish the rapid automatic update of the groups entitled to social security.

Al-Mansouri said that the committee reviewed, during its meetings, government representatives, the budget of the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Community Development for the current year, which included seven strategic objectives, represented in strengthening family cohesion and community cohesion by 92.26%, and enabling people of determination to obtain basic rights and services that guarantee a quality of life. And sustainability to achieve happiness, support sustainable social development, consolidate the culture of volunteering in the community, in addition to enhancing the quality of life of community members, ensuring the provision of all administrative services in accordance with standards of quality, efficiency and transparency, and consolidating a culture of innovation in the institutional work environment.
