The risk of war is very great, according to SVT's correspondent Bert Sundström.

- It is really a feeling here in Ukraine that you have to strengthen the defense and be prepared.

Everyone thinks that something will happen, he says tonight's Report.

The correspondent points out, however, that it is not known whether Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin have made a decision on an invasion.

But among other things, the troop gatherings around Ukraine's borders mean that Putin must show his home crowd that he is acting, says Bert Sundström.

- A small invasion somewhere is almost inevitable, says Bert Sundström.

"Russia will invent something"

A Russian military attack on Ukraine could take place within a few days, according to Sundström.

Russia is desperately trying to find some kind of reason to attack Ukraine in - as it will be called - self-defense.

But the whole idea is obscene.

Only Russia is attacking, threatening and arming.

There is no threat to Russia from Ukraine or NATO, but Russia will come up with something that gives a reason to start a military attack on Ukraine - maybe on Tuesday, I would guess.

Crying people in Russian media

- It is becoming increasingly obvious that Russia's residents are being prepared for war, says SVT's reporter Elin Jönsson who is in Russia's capital Moscow.

In Russia, the situation in the Russian-backed breakaway areas of Luhansk and Donetsk is described as a humanitarian disaster, Jönsson explains.

Russian media show pictures of crying people leaving their homes and being evacuated to Russia.

It is also reported that the Ukrainian army is shelling civilian targets in the area and plans to carry out various terrorist acts.

- They have also arrested and interrogated a spy who tells of an impending invasion, and it then shows that they think they have to go in and defend the Russian citizens in this area, says Elin Jönsson.
