Sweden's Foreign Minister Ann Linde is one of many participants in the security conference that is now taking place in Germany.

Both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba are in place and the crisis in Eastern Europe has been intensively discussed on Saturday.

- The situation is becoming more and more serious every day.

It is a common assessment from all foreign and defense ministers who are in place here in Munich, says Linde.

She believes that the EU, the USA, NATO and several individual countries are showing a united front against Russia in order to de-escalate the serious security situation.

Maintaining pressure and reiterating the threat of massive sanctions from several quarters are important measures to influence Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Linde.

"It looks darker now"

That Putin chooses diplomacy and withdraws troops from Ukraine's borders is the only thing that could save the situation now, Linde says.

- That is what all efforts focus on, says the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Do you still believe in a diplomatic solution?

- It looks darker now only the last few days.

Anything can happen at any time.

US President Joe Biden claims that Putin has decided to invade Ukraine and that it will happen within a few days.

Linde believes that it is impossible to know whether Putin has made such a decision, but that there are alarming signs that point in that direction.

She cites the evacuation from the Russian-led so-called People's Republics of Luhansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine as an example.

- It looks like you want a pretext to attack and it is very worrying.

No threat of war against Sweden

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is now trying to get in touch with all Swedes in Ukraine to make sure that they have been reached by the call to leave the country.

The embassy staff has also been adapted based on the deteriorating security situation.

If there are further attacks on Ukraine, it will affect the whole of Europe, but at present there is no direct threat of war against Sweden, according to Linde.
