The administrative investigation into the functioning of the cabinet of Secretary of State Nathalie Elimas, accused of harassment, is still ongoing and the minister "has been working" in recent days, her cabinet said on Saturday, after press reports reporting of a "damning" preliminary report.

“At this stage, the final report has not been submitted.

In accordance with the procedure, it is now the phase of the observations “, which follows that of the hearings of the persons concerned, indicated the firm.

“These observations will be annexed to constitute the final report”.

The date of delivery of the report to the head of government is not yet known, it was added.

According to Europe 1, an internal pre-report was given to Jean Castex a few days ago.

Its conclusions "are terrible" for the Secretary of State in charge of priority education, directly implicated, according to a source from the Elysee Palace quoted on Saturday by the radio.

The Prime Minister spoke with the Secretary of State to "ask her for an explanation" and Nathalie Elimas "refused the option" of the government's departure, specifies Europe 1, which adds that the Secretary of State has been absent since several days.

Half a dozen victims

His cabinet indicated that Nathalie Elimas had "worked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the ministry" and that she "had external appointments" at the end of the week.

“She will take a few days off next week.”

The Ministry of Education has asked the General Inspectorate for Education, Sport and Research (IGESR) to carry out an internal inspection within the office of the Secretary of State, in order to shed light on possible difficulties related to working relations within the cabinet, the cabinet of the secretary of state had indicated in mid-January.

This inspection relates to the functioning of the cabinet in general and does not specifically target the Secretary of State, who took office in July 2020, it was insisted.

Several sources had indicated that Nathalie Elimas was accused of acts of “harassment” or even “mistreatment” of employees.

Half a dozen people would be victims, according to two people who have worked since July 2020 in the office of this human resources specialist.
