“Today we received military assistance in the form of sniper rifles, automatic rifles, machine guns with optical aiming aids, pistols, night vision and surveillance devices, and military equipment,” Reznikov said.
The Ukrainian minister also thanked "partners and friends for this important and timely decision."
Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the Canadian authorities had decided to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons worth about $6.1 million.
The Canadian Ministry of Defense clarified that Ukraine will be provided with rifles, machine guns, pistols and 1.5 million rounds of ammunition.
Russia's First Deputy Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, said that the escalation of the situation by the West should be blown away at some point, but the pumping of Ukraine with weapons will continue.
