For Donald Trump, there may well be multiple investigations, the one around his role in the January 6 attack on the Capitol for example, or this one, around the management of his business.
But there is obviously only one strategy: avoid, as much as possible, answering questions from investigators or prosecutors.
A judge, however, believes that he must comply, as well as his children Don Junior and Ivanka.
In this investigation into the management of her affairs, the Attorney General of the State of New York, who is pleased that justice has prevailed, suspects the Trump Organization of having deliberately made false financial and tax declarations in the valuation of his assets.
Either by overestimating them in order to obtain advantageous loans, or by underestimating them in order to pay less taxes.
New reverse
These suspicions have been reinforced for a few days by the decision of the accounting firm of the Trump organization for years.
The Mazars firm explains that the declarations for a decade are not reliable and that it will no
longer work with the Trump company
.
The former president and his children can still appeal the decision, and if they are ultimately called to testify, they will be able to remain silent under the Constitution's Fifth Amendment.
But this decision is yet another legal setback.
