“The City Court of Prague, at its meeting on Friday, considered the case of Alexander Franchetti, a Russian citizen who was detained on September 12, 2021 at the airport of Prague at the request of Ukraine.

The court ruled that Franchetti could be extradited to Ukraine,” he said.

As Denis Kashitsyn, the Russian lawyer, noted, Franchetti's defense side intends to file an appeal.

It is clarified that the case can be referred to the Supreme Court of the Republic, and the final verdict is made by the head of the Czech Justice Ministry, Pavel Blazhek.

In September 2021, the Prague City Court placed Franchetti in custody.

He was detained at the airport of the Czech capital at the request of the Ukrainian authorities.

The Russian wrote a letter to Czech President Milos Zeman.

In the message, he stated that the Ukrainian authorities groundlessly accuse him of "participation in illegal armed groups" during the events of the "Crimean spring", namely, the self-defense of Crimea and the defense of Sevastopol.
