The clip comes from a surveillance camera on a street in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico, and shows how a flock of the yellow-headed meadow strudel bird falls to the ground.

Several of the birds died from the fall but most were able to fly on.

The video, which was recorded on February 7, has attracted the attention of several foreign media after various theories were spread on social media.

Exactly why the birds fall, no one can really say for sure.

But according to Tom Arnbom, a nature conservation expert at WWF, he acts on the birds in a way that indicates that they have probably been hunted.

- They are trying to get away from this falcon, or hawk as it may be.

Otherwise they would not have panicked.
