China Overseas Chinese Network, February 18. According to the news of the "Europe Times" WeChat public account "East to West", according to Agence France-Presse, on February 16, the French Supreme Court (Cour de cassation) made a ruling not to prosecute for death Overseas Chinese Liu Shaoyao's police officer.

At the first trial in July 2019, the officer was ruled not to prosecute.

In November 2020, the appeals court held that the police shooting was in self-defense and again ruled not to prosecute.

Since then, Liu Shaoyao's family has appealed to the French Supreme Court.

On February 16, the Supreme Court decided not to accept the appeal of Liu Shaoyao's family.

After Liu Shaoyao's death, the Chinese community was strongly dissatisfied, and protests on an unprecedented scale were launched many times.

"After examining the question of admissibility, and after reviewing the pleadings, the Court of Appeal found that there were no grounds for admissibility," the Supreme Court's decision said.

On the evening of March 26, 2017, the police received a report from a neighbor that Liu Shaoyao was emotional and was holding something, possibly a knife.

At a little after 8 o'clock, the police arrived at Liu Shaoyao's home in the 19th arrondissement of Paris.

For fear of danger, three police officers, two men and one woman, were equipped with a submachine gun and two pistols.

The moment he broke into the door, police officer Damien V. opened fire. 56-year-old Liu Shaoyao was shot in the heart and fell to his death in front of his children.

According to the police, Liu Shaoyao held the scissors and attacked the police officer with the submachine gun. The latter shouted "He stabbed me", and Damien V. next to him opened fire in a panic.

However, Liu Shaoyao's children said that the father did not do anything to anyone and held the scissors because he was scaling the fish.

A neighbor testified that he was in the hallway before the shooting and didn't hear the police shout "he stabbed me".

When questioned by an AFP reporter, the neighbor said that the police intervention was very violent and did not correspond to the actual situation at the time.

Lawyers for the police and Liu Shaoyao's family declined to comment immediately after the Supreme Court ruling.
