Total and self-destructive war in the Popular Party.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso against Pablo Casado, Pablo Casado against Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

And the two using nuclear weapons to finish off their rival.

The tensions and skirmishes of the last six months escalated this Thursday to a public and stark confrontation, with all of Spain being a spectator of how the PP was torn from top to bottom, putting both leaders at a crossroads about its continuity.

As if only one of the two could remain.

Ayuso accused Casado of hatching a plan to politically destroy her in a "cruel" way and of "manufacturing alleged corruption" to discredit her.

Including an espionage attempt through a detective agency contacted from a Madrid City Council company to gather evidence against her.

This suspicion claimed the first victim this Thursday: the immediate resignation of

Ángel Carromero

, the main one pointed out for attempting that maneuver.

For its part, Génova revealed that it has been investigating internally for six months whether Ayuso may be involved in an alleged case of corruption due to a favored treatment of his brother in a Madrid government contract, for which

Tomás Díaz Ayuso

would have allegedly received some 288,000 euros in a commission.

And that this, and nothing else, is what the Madrid president has tried to cover up in these months with "a massive campaign of attacks, lies and slander" against Casado with the excuse of chairing the Madrid PP and celebrating "as soon as possible" the congress, but that it was only to "shield himself".

"This one is going down"

The party's national leadership has no evidence to prove that Ayuso could be involved in any irregularity, but it insinuated it by emphasizing his lack of collaboration and his lack of response to giving the required explanations.

In this crossfire, the general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, announced this Thursday the opening of an information file on Ayuso with the aim of "gathering information" to find the missing answers and find out if he could have committed any irregularity.

From the result of these investigations the consequences will be derived later.

In the case of finding something illegal, the file would lead to one of a sanctioning nature and, only then, would the door be opened to a suspension of militancy or, in the most extreme case, to expulsion.

In parallel, the legal services of the PP are studying whether to sue Ayuso for his "almost criminal" accusations against Casado.

"This one is going to fall."

In Genoa they believe that Ayuso, by acknowledging in his appearance before the media that his brother effectively mediated in the awarded contract, has recognized that there is a scandal for having charged a commission.

"What he has done today is commit suicide. It is the end of Ayuso, because sooner or later the document [of his brother's commission] will come out," these sources predict.

"And all because of

Miguel Ángel Rodríguez

: the same one who raised her has killed her politically," they add, referring to the director of Ayuso's cabinet.

"They want to throw us out"

Asked about the possibility that the file that has opened the match for Ayuso ends in expulsion, the Genoa sources consulted point out that it cannot be ruled out, given the pulse that has been thrown at Casado with light and stenographers and due to the "gravity "of the confrontation and the alleged scandal of his brother.

In Ayuso's environment they see it just the other way around: "They want to kick us out."

But in the team of the baroness of the PP they consider that this Thursday just the opposite happened, that García Egea and Casado drafted their political death sentences: "Genoa has gone too far in an accusation without evidence. They have had to dismiss Carromero because it was evident that he was the one with the dossiers".

"Everything is blackmail by Casado and he is going to pay for it," these sources point out, before conceding that the president of the PP "still has a minute to back down."

If there is no rectification, Ayuso will fight internally, since he believes he has the support of the bases: "Ayuso is the PP, not Egea".

"And this has only just begun," they point out in the baroness's team.

The positions, today, are irreconcilable.

The interpretation that is made on the seventh floor of the PP headquarters is diametrically different: "Before they searched our headquarters, now we face the party's scandals. We will come out stronger."

Married, "is released"

And Casado, how do you face this internal civil war?

"He is released," they say in his team, referring to the fact that he did not want to live with the "scandal" of the alleged commission of Ayuso's brother.

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, confirmed this Thursday that he investigated whether someone from the City Council commissioned Ayuso to espionage, although he said he had found no evidence.

For its part, Génova categorically denies it and accuses Rodríguez, Ayuso's right-hand man, of having concocted "a setup" to divert public attention from what is a "case of corruption": "Miguel Ángel has crashed the plane" and "He's destroying the game."

This story maintains that Rodríguez would have put "the machinery in motion" to accuse Genoa of setting up a "gestapillo" and some "creams", referring to cases of espionage in the past within the Madrid PP to Alberto's right hand Ruiz-Gallardon,

Manuel Cobo

;

and friendly fire to destroy the political career of Cristina Cifuentes.

But these "creams", say these sources, "exist", although they still do not have documentary evidence and, therefore, they justify not having gone to the Prosecutor's Office.

The war was visualized this Thursday in all its crudeness, but Genoa's story is that it all started in September, when "information" reached the party about the alleged irregularity committed by Ayuso when awarding a contract for which his brother had charged a commission.

It was then that Casado summoned the Madrid president in Genoa to ask for explanations for the first time.

Whatsapp blocking

Already in October a second appointment took place, this time with García Egea, in which clarifications were again demanded.

This triggered the PP to initiate on October 20 a procedure of good practices to investigate internally if there were irregularities.

Ayuso was summoned to provide more information but, García Egea lamented, "it has been in vain".

"To this day we have not received any clarification."

The official explanation is that Ayuso then, instead of responding, blocked Egea on WhatsApp and began a campaign of hostilities with the PP congress in Madrid.

Sol's version is that at that meeting what happened is that she was pressured to withdraw from the race to preside over the Madrid PP.

The entire PP is stunned at this civil war.

Reactions follow one another, but the fear of seeing how everything collapses between bombs is unleashed.
