A truck plunges into the Rhône, the driver cannot be found

Alerted by witnesses, the Gard firefighters discovered a truck, immersed in the Rhône, this Friday, near Aramon (Gard).

The semi-trailer allegedly crossed the guardrail of a bridge and fell into the river.

Only a piece of the trailer remains visible, and the driver remains untraceable for the moment.

Several specialized teams are currently carrying out searches at the level of the truck's cabin, in the hope of finding the driver.

But the strong current significantly complicates the search, say the firefighters.

A gendarmerie helicopter is also carrying out searches from the air using a thermal camera.

Traffic was cut off on the bridge.
