The PSOE has harshly attacked the PP and its leaders, taking for granted the alleged espionage ordered from the leadership of Genoa against the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, due to her brother's alleged relationship with the irregular award of a mask purchase contract in the midst of a pandemic.
The Government also attacks the PP, accusing it, through the mouth of the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, of "covering up corruption."
The argument of the socialists affects the idea that the Popular Party "remains the party of always, the one of corruption."
The spokesman for the Socialist Executive, Felipe Sicilia, demands urgent explanations from the president of the PP, Pablo Casado;
the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida.
In his opinion, with this matter "it is clear" that Casado's PP "continues with the same corrupt practices of Rajoy's and Aznar's PP".
The socialist spokesman maintains that Casado must clarify why "if he had suspicions of illegality, he did not inform the Prosecutor's Office";
that Almeida must explain what appears to be "a Kitchen 2 using the institutions, a public company of the City Council, to spy on Díaz Ayuso" and, finally, Ayuso herself has to report "everything related to that contract that affects her brother and that could be granted irregularly".
Sicily has also pointed to the fact that this case has come to light "after elections, those of Castilla y León, which have weakened the leader of the PP."
And this leads him to think that "it is an internal war of power."
For the PSOE spokesman, there is no doubt that "Casado's PP is the same PP as Rajoy and Aznar's: influence peddling and corruption."
"Today", he has sentenced him, "we just checked it".
More restrained has been the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, for whom it is necessary that the details of a case that generates "uncertainty and disaffection" in the citizenry be known.
Montero also speaks of "internal power struggle" and urges the PP to give explanations and inform the Justice of any contract award that has occurred irregularly.
"There should be no suspicion," she said.
The group of the left has taken advantage of the internal tear in the PP to revive criticism of corruption and compare those of Pablo Casado with the "Sicilian mafia", as has been done by United We Can.
The Minister of Consumption, Alberto Garzón, has asked to "clarify" even through Justice a matter that he has called "murky" among popular members.
The purple spokeswoman for Housing and deputy in the Madrid Assembly, Alejandra Jacinto, has charged against the methods used, but also against Ayuso: "On the one hand, an alleged espionage paid for with public money; on the other, some alleged awards of contracts paid with public money.
A situation that reminds the party's ranks of 'Operation Kitchen', which is why they ask for answers from the president of the Community of Madrid: "A party like this cannot govern. Ayuso has to give explanations about the bites that according to Genoa his brother has received and must resign if they are confirmed".
Although Podemos puts the focus on Madrid, other formations are committed to making a national reading of this crisis in the PP.
Thus, the ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has pointed directly to Pablo Casado: "I don't know if he will reach the general elections."
