The police were alerted to the scene at 16.14 on Thursday afternoon.
A large area around Blåsebergavägen, Gottorpsvägen, Halmgatan and Skånegårdsvägen has been cordoned off for crime scene investigation.
- Since there has been a possible shooting while driving, sleeves can be present for a longer distance and that is why the blockade is extensive, says police spokesman Rickard Lundqvist.
A major police operation is underway around Malmö.
Three people are in custody in the case.
The shelled car has been seized and the police are still searching for a dark or black Audi that was last seen in the Fosie and Oxie area.
- We have seen it at one stage in the course of events, but we are still interested in that car, says Rickard Lundqvist.
No person was found injured.
