• In Toulouse, the application of the Low Emissions Zone, which prohibits the most polluting vehicles within a perimeter of 72 km2, comes into force on March 1.

  • Professional vehicles such as Crit'Air 5 vans and vans will be the first concerned, before being gradually extended to other vehicles.

  • The metropolis of Toulouse has just published the list of vehicles which may benefit from an exemption from this ban for a period of three years or occasionally.

In less than a fortnight, company vans, vans and heavy goods vehicles that have a Crit'Air sticker will no longer be able to drive in a large part of the Pink City, as well as in certain sectors of Colomiers and Tournefeuille.

On March 1, the Low Emission Zone (ZFE-m) will come into force, day and night and 7 days a week, over a perimeter of 72 km2 of the metropolis.

This measure, which aims to improve air quality, will then gradually apply to the other most polluting vehicles: on September 1, Crit'Air 4 trucks and other commercial vehicles will be concerned, then in January 2023 those of individuals and users of motorized two-wheelers equipped with 4, 5 and unclassified vignettes.

The following year, only vehicles with a Crit'Air sticker 0, 1 and 2 will be able to continue to drive within the ZFE-m.

Except those with an exemption.

The metropolis has just published all those who will be able to benefit from it locally (see list below).

Vintage cars, food trucks

We already knew that this was the case for buses or even firefighters or army vehicles, on a permanent basis.

In Toulouse, ambulances, motorhomes, dumpsters, food trucks, armored vans and tractors will be allowed to drive exceptionally for three years.

In addition to these vehicles of the VASP (fitted van) or VTSU type, there are also refrigerated trucks, construction vehicles, such as concrete mixers, exceptional convoys or removal trucks.

But also collectible vehicles.

This was a recurring request from certain associations.

These three-year derogations, valid on proof, also include occasional authorizations to circulate for certain polluting vehicles.

Like those of companies in cessation of payments or whose owners are summoned by the services of the State for a control.

Or the big trucks that come to set up a stage for shows.

Some considered the Toulouse ZFE too restrictive and many requests had been made to the metropolis.

With this list of derogations, following the opening of negotiations, the number of vehicles subject to traffic restrictions is therefore tending to fall.

"The ZFE, requested by the State, must take into account the particular situations identified thanks to the in-depth consultation carried out with Toulouse residents, since 2019, and requiring derogations", justified the president of the metropolis, Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR ), in a press release.

Claiming to “remain firm on the principles of the ZFE, while listening to the difficulties encountered by certain sectors”.
