This decision comes in the context of an acute crisis between Paris and Bamako, which has continued to grow since the military coup of August 18, 2020. At the heart of the tensions are the arrival of Russian mercenaries from the Wagner group in Mali, the expulsion of the French ambassador or even that of a contingent of Danish soldiers.
