Even without a fair, there are three prizes: the jury for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize nominated 15 book titles for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the categories of fiction, non-fiction/essay writing and translation.

On March 17 at 4 p.m., prizes for fiction, non-fiction and translation will be presented in the glass hall of the Leipzig Exhibition Center and streamed live on the fair's website.

The award is endowed with a total of 60,000 euros.

This year the jury consists of Insa Wilke, Moritz Baßler, Anne-Dore Krohn, Andreas Platthaus, Miryam Schellbach, Shirin Sojtrawalla and Katharina Teutsch.

Five authors have been nominated for the Fiction Prize: Tomer Gardi with “A Round Thing” (Droschl), Heike Geißler with “The Week” (Suhrkamp), Emine Sevgi Özdamar with “A Space Limited by Shadows” (also Suhrkamp) , Dietmar Dath with “Gentzen or: cleaning up drunk.

Kalkülroman" by Matthes & Seitz and Katerina Poladjan with "Zukunftsmusik" by S. Fischer.

The non-fiction books nominated are “Michaelangelo” by Horst Bredekamp (Wagenbach), Hadija Haruna-Oelker: “The Beauty of Difference.

Thinking differently together" (btb Verlag), Christiane Hoffmann: "Everything that we don't remember. On foot on my father's escape route" (CHBeck), Juliane Rebentisch: "The dispute over plurality.

Disputes with Hannah Arendt" (Suhrkamp) and Uljana Wolf: "Etymological Gossip. Essays and Speeches" (kookbooks).

The nominees for the translator's prize are: Irmela Hijiya-Kirschnereit for her translation from Japanese: “The Thorn Extractor.

The Fabulous Jizō by Sugamo" by Hiromi Itō (Matthes & Seitz), Stefan Moster: "In the Hall of Alastalo.

A description from the skerries" by Volter Kilpi, translated from Finnish (mareverlag), Andreas Tretner translated from Russian: "Wunderkind Erjan" by Hamid Ismailov (Friedenauer Presse), Helga van Beuningen for her translation from Dutch by Marieke Lucas Rijnevelds "My little Prachttier" (Suhrkamp) and Anne Weber translated from the French "Nevermore" by Cécile Wajsbrot (Wallstein).
