It was on the evening of August 29 that there was a riot in Ronneby.

Police and rescue services were subjected to stone-throwing in the square in Ronneby.

Several buildings in the city center were damaged in connection with the riot.

The prelude to the lawsuit that has now been decided arose when riot-equipped police were to empty the square of people.

One of the policemen was attacked, had his own riot shield printed on his face and was injured.

Arrested and arrested

A man in his 20s was arrested and detained for assaulting police.

The man was later charged with violence against an official and on Wednesday the verdict came in Blekinge District Court.

The man himself denies the crime.

He says he was not in the square to take part in the riot, that it was an accident and that he acted in self-defense.

Sentenced to a fine

According to the verdict, the man refused to leave the square on the orders of the police and the district court considers that it has been proven that the man resisted violently.

He is convicted of violence against an official after pushing the police, who were injured in the face.

The punishment for the man in his 20s will be a suspended sentence and a daily fine of a total of SEK 7,500.

After the riot in Ronneby in August 2020, further prosecutions await.

Several people are suspected of violent rioting after throwing stones at blue light personnel.
