Just over half of the inspected vehicles received remarks on, among other things, lighting, load weight and tachographs.

In addition, about 30 taxis were checked.

But not a single drunk driving was detected.

- It is very rare that we discover a drunk driver in our checks, states Anders Karlsson, group manager for the traffic police in Värmland.

The 50-year-old truck driver who was sentenced to four and a half years in prison yesterday Wednesday for causing a fatal accident, when he was heavily intoxicated driving his truck in the opposite direction on the E45 in Grums.

- We have never before heard that a professional driver who drove such a heavy vehicle is so heavily intoxicated and staying in traffic, says Anders Karlsson.

He notes that drunk driving also occurs among professional drivers, but despite the fact that around 1,000 heavy vehicles are inspected per year in Värmland, only a few people blow red in breath tests.

- Drunk driving and drug driving are much more common among other drivers, says Anders Karlsson.
