The 40-year-old coach was the subject of a committal order issued by the court and was taken into custody.

He had breached the terms of his judicial review and was the subject of an arrest warrant.

An investigation into the actions of the ping-pong specialist had been launched after the family of one of his students had given the alert.

Other young athletes supervised by the respondent in Salon-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Sorgues (Vaucluse) had made accusations against their coach.

Child pornography photos and videos were found on the latter's smartphone.
