An investigation was launched after the death on Tuesday evening of a resident of Chantilly (Oise) following carbon monoxide poisoning.
The firefighters called to the scene around 10:45 p.m. also took care of another occupant of the premises seriously injured by the fumes of this invisible and odorless gas.

She was evacuated to the hospital in Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d'Oise).
Rescuers also transported a third individual to Creil hospital while six other residents were hospitalized in other establishments.
The level of carbon monoxide concentration in the air was measured in the building where the victims were.
It was 600 parts per million (ppm) on the ground floor.
The figure climbed to 710 ppm on the upper floor.
By way of comparison, the National Institute for Research and Safety (INRS) has set the occupational exposure limit value (VLEP) at 50 ppm.
