It is a pragmatic warming of relations between the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

Despite political disagreements, the two countries decided to strengthen bilateral ties.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit comes just months after that of Emirates Crown Prince

Mohammed bin Zayed

to Ankara.

“

Yes of course, it was the start of a new relationship.

And I think this visit is a very important step

,” said Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism.

During this

visit to the Emirates

of the Turkish President, 13 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between the two countries.

Agreements which relate in particular to health, technologies or transport.

A letter of intent on cooperation between defense industries was also signed.

Investment in tourism

“

Both countries want to increase trade.

Tourism will also be a very important sector.

There are many investors in both countries who want to invest on both sides

,” observes Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism.

Abu Dhabi and Ankara now hope to double the volume of bilateral trade.

These had crossed the 6 billion euro mark in the first half of last year.
