In 2015, Ukraine produced a series called "Servant of the People", its events dealing with the political situation in the country and shedding light on a number of issues in a comic framework, but what no one expected is that the series' hero Volodymyr Zelensky (44 years) will become Actual president of the country after a few years.

The joke, then, will turn into reality, and during his rule, his country's conflict with Russia, which has been going on for nearly 7 years, has worsened, and the matter has recently developed into threats of an imminent Russian invasion of the country.

Known for many years among his Ukrainian colleagues for his sense of humor, Zelensky worked as a comedian and TV and film executive, and led his comedy troupe "Kvartal 95" before taking office as the country's president in May 2019.

The most prominent and recent work of Zelensky was the series “Servant of the People”, which predicted his future, as he played the role of a history teacher in a public school named Vasyl Petrovich Holobordko, and the coincidence led to his transformation from a man of the common people to the president elected by an overwhelming majority, and in a comic beginning His life is changing on all fronts.

From fantasy to reality

The events of the series revolve around the transformation of Vasyl's life from a teacher to the president of the country after one of his students filmed him speaking angry about corruption in Ukraine, criticizing the government and the elite in a strong and sharp tone.

And completely unexpectedly, the video titled "History teacher loses his mind" spread widely, and people began asking him to run for the presidency because of their dissatisfaction with corruption, the government and the elite.

As a result of the unexpected events, Fasil did run for the presidency, and although opinion polls did not show his lead over the rest of the candidates, he achieved an impressive success and won with 67% of the vote.

Here, the vast difference between the life of the public, who became the president of the country, and the life of the country's elite and officials, and Fasil's life is turned upside down, and his assistants show him everything he needs, starting with what he will wear from clothes, shoes and watches to the way he talks and his facial expressions and what he will say to the press and the people.

And the treatment of those around him changes to him. After he was just a marginalized teacher receiving criticism and reprimands from his principal, everyone fears him and wishes to meet him, and with time he turns into a real leader that the people gather around him and support him to fight corruption and the extravagance of the elite that fights him.

paved fame

And in 2018, the "Servant of the People" party, which bears the name of the TV series, was founded, and it is led by Zelensky.

The following year, he ran for the presidency and defeated former President Petro Poroshenko with nearly 73% of the vote, and his word after his victory was "I promise, I will never let you down."

The wide fame that the Ukrainian president gained from his role in the series “Servant of the People” after mastering the role of the country’s leader contributed to his access to power and a shocking landslide victory in the elections, less than 4 years after the comedy series was shown for the first time, and despite the similarity between the events of the series. In fact, the reality is not comedic at all.

Even after his accession to the presidency, Zelensky enjoyed a significant rise in popularity, and Maria Zulkina, a political analyst at the Kiev-based Foundation for Democratic Initiatives, told the Los Angeles Times that "in his first year and a half in In office, Zelensky has maintained a high level of popularity and confidence compared to previous presidents at the same stage of his tenure."

However, she noted, that confidence began to evaporate with the beginning of the escalation of tensions between Kiev and Moscow last year, and opinion polls now show that twice as many Ukrainians do not trust Zelensky as those who do.

According to the American newspaper, Zelensky has been criticized for members of his inner circle, many of whom are veterans of the comedy industry with little political experience, including Andrei Yermak, a film producer and lawyer who currently heads the president's office and is seen as having great influence.

Despite this, many, including Zelensky's critics, consider his accession to the presidency of the country after he was a representative evidence of the country's democracy and system.
