China News Agency, United Nations, February 16. At the initiative of Russia, the United Nations Security Council held a public meeting on the issue of cooperation between the United Nations and the Collective Security Treaty Organization on the 16th.

Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, explained China's position at the meeting.

Zhang Jun said that China appreciates the cooperation between the Collective Security Treaty Organization (hereinafter referred to as the CSTO) and the United Nations in the fields of counter-terrorism, combating drug smuggling and organized crime, and peacekeeping in recent years. Efforts to maintain international peace and security form a synergy.

China will strengthen communication and coordination on foreign policies with CSTO member states, conduct close cooperation on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, and make positive contributions to maintaining the international order based on international law and the central coordination role of the United Nations in international affairs.

Zhang Jun said that the current world is entering a new period of turbulence and change.

Regional hotspot issues emerge one after another, and traditional and non-traditional security threats are intertwined, posing severe challenges to the security and development of all countries.

In particular, some countries pursue unilateralism and hegemonic policies, engage in power politics, harm the security and development interests of other countries through improper means, provoke a new cold war and geopolitical competition, and seriously undermine the international order and global strategic stability.

Zhang Jun pointed out that in the face of complex and severe situations, the international community needs to practice genuine multilateralism and oppose bloc politics and cliques; it needs to strengthen unity and cooperation, and oppose confrontation and pressure; it needs equality and mutual trust, and opposes bullying by power.

Zhang Jun said that China and Russia and other CSTO member states are important partners with long-term friendship and mutual trust.

Under the new situation, China is willing to work with the CSTO member states to deepen cooperation in various fields, improve the level of connectivity, and promote the process of economic integration.

We will discuss taking effective measures to fully unleash the cooperation potential of mechanisms such as the CSTO and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, jointly combat terrorism, promote lasting peace and common prosperity in the region, and build a closer community with a shared future.

Regarding the situation in Kazakhstan some time ago, Zhang Jun said that China supports all measures that are conducive to the stabilization of the domestic situation in Kazakhstan.

At the same time, China firmly opposes any forces undermining Kazakhstan's stability and threatening Kazakhstan's security, and opposes external forces deliberately creating turmoil and "color revolutions" in Kazakhstan.

At the request of the Kazakh government, the CSTO went to Kazakhstan to help maintain domestic order, and at a critical moment, it played an active role in stabilizing the situation in Kazakhstan.

Zhang Jun said that China expects Kazakhstan to achieve long-term stability and supports Kazakhstan to restore stability, develop economy and improve people's livelihood.

I believe that the Kazakh authorities can properly solve the problem and maintain the country's stable and healthy development. I also hope that the international community can fully respect Kazakhstan's sovereignty and play a constructive role in the stability and development of Kazakhstan and the region.
