The punishment under the article for high treason provides for imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years.
In December, the Moscow City Court granted a request to extend for three months the arrest of Ivan Safronov, an adviser to the head of Roskosmos, a former employee of the newspapers Kommersant and Vedomosti, in a case of treason.
Safronov was detained in July 2020.
