In a letter to the parents, the Hessian Ministry of Education made it clear on Wednesday that parents of underage children should decide on Thursday whether to participate in face-to-face classes in schools.

According to the German Weather Service, heavy storm and hurricane gusts are to be expected throughout Hesse during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and during the course of Thursday and Friday.

In extreme weather conditions, the legal guardians decide in the morning whether the way to school is reasonable and safe for their children.

Adult students decide this themselves. If students stay at home, the school must still be informed.

If the safety of the way to school can no longer be guaranteed, the Hessian Ministry of Education also supports all school administrations in their decision to cancel attendance at school on Thursday and Friday, if possible in consultation with the school authorities.

If possible, schools should then offer distance learning.

Numerous districts and cities have already decided to completely stop school operations on Thursday and Friday.

The Hessenschau has drawn up a list of schools that have already canceled classes.

It must be asked in each case whether distance learning and emergency care will then be offered.
