China News Service, February 16. According to Kyodo News, on the 15th, Japan and the United Kingdom jointly announced that they will cooperate in the development of sensor technology for fighter aircraft.

  The joint development is a state-of-the-art sensor technology known as Jaguar, which aims to improve the ability to detect enemy threats on land, sea and air, the British government said.

  According to reports, the cooperation will involve private enterprises. The two countries plan to start development in April 2022 based on places such as the north of the United Kingdom. Design and manufacturing are expected to take five years.

  In addition, the two countries are promoting joint research in the field of engine development for fighter jets.

Regarding the follow-up model of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-2 fighter, the Ministry of Defense revealed in December 2021 that it will jointly develop the engine with the United Kingdom from January 2022.
